Purpose of Post

The key purpose of this post is to maintain constant surveillance of customers in the facility; acting immediately and appropriately to secure the safety of customers in the event of emergency. 

 The priorities of the Leisure Attendants are:

  1. To provide a friendly and efficient service to all customers.
  2. To pro-actively provide information to promote the Centre to the public at all times.
  3. To respond positively to customer enquiries
  4. To ensure that the facilities are kept clean and hygienic

Group Boxercise/Boxing Class Instructor

Tuesday evening 7.30-8.30pm at Shakespeare Hall, Newhaven  

Sunday morning 10.00-11.00am at Downs Leisure Centre, Seaford

We are actively seeking a qualified fitness professional to teach high quality group fitness classes in Boxing.  You should possess strong communication with an ability to engage with all class members ensuring an inclusive environment for all abilities.

 Skills Required

  • Comprehensive understanding of current health and fitness standards
  • 1 year group exercise teaching experience
  • Current Boxing Class Instructor qualification

Wave Leisure Trust Ltd is an ambitious Charity and Social Enterprise with a turnover of £4.9m and Purpose of “Inspiring Active Lifestyles” and a Vision; “To be at the heart of the improvement of health and wellbeing within the Community”.

 Formed in 2006, Wave is recognised as an award-winning Trust, managing eight leisure facilities and the Newhaven Fort along with providing a vast range of activity programmes and outreach initiatives.

 Supporting well over 1 million active customer visits on an annual basis, Wave ensures all surplus revenues generated from activities are reinvested back into the community in the form of facility developments and refurbishments, new programmes of activity or outreach initiatives.

Working across a range of sectors including Sport and Activity, Education, Public Health and Adult Social Care, Wave helps people of all ages and ability levels to be active, how they want, where they want, when they want.

Trustee Recruitment

We wish to recruit two new members to join our nine-strong governing body, the Board of Trustees.

You would need to be able to make a commitment to Wave and devote the necessary time; have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind.

We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Ideally, the new trustees will also have skills and experience in:

  • Corporate finance including Treasury Management, Management Accounts, Cash Management/Investment and Pensions
  • Public Health
  • Commissioning and Contract Procurement
  • Fund Raising

We will provide a full and comprehensive induction to Wave and to the roles and responsibilities of Trustees.

You will be expected to attend the quarterly evening board meetings and join one of our three sub groups and an annual strategy review meeting.

Level 1 & 2 Sport Coaches

Location: Various sites and community/ school delivery

On a casual basis tbc

Set hourly rate will be dependent upon age and qualifications

Your key responsibilities will include:

·         To lead or assist with coaching sports programs including taster sessions, afterschool sessions and as part of our junior program across Wave Leisure facilities

·         To develop enjoyable sessions to increase young people’s interest in physical activity

·         To record and report on sessions according to session plan

·         To keep and record accurate registers and incident/ accident logs

Experience of delivering to children or young people is desirable and an enhanced DBS check will be required

Group Exercise Instructors

We are looking for Group Exercise Instructors who are passionate about delivering classes that will encourage participation from all ages and abilities. You will deliver classes with energy and enthusiasm which will underpin our principle of Inspiring Active Lifestyles and have a key role in helping our Customers achieve their personal goals.

You will deliver classes in line with our policies and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.

You will need to be able to create an enjoyable environment which will encourage Customers to participate. You will also need to be reliable, punctual and adaptable with an passion for well delivered, fun, inclusive classes for all participants.

We are looking for general instructors, although we welcome applications from those qualified in the delivery of Combat, Step and Pump.

Volunteer Health Walk Leaders

Walking for Health wouldn’t exist without our fantastic volunteer walk leaders, who lead health walks taking place around the country.

As a volunteer walk leader, you would be helping people in your community to get active and healthy, providing vital support that they otherwise might not get.  As well as ensuring walks are friendly, safe and well run, walk leaders are also our ambassadors for walking, their scheme and Walking for Health – showing people that walking really can make a big difference to their lives.

 We are looking for Walk Leaders to work from our Centres in Lewes and Peacehaven.
