Community Initiatives

Downs Leisure Centre Community Initiatives

Downs Leisure Centre is currently part of the following Community Initiatives and partnerships: Health Walks Initiative; Member of Seaford Partnership; Fred Furner (Downs Centre Manager) is Chair of the Seaford Youth Task Group; works with Seaford’s Youth Service, Sussex Police and in establishing the Seaford Youth Forum; Seaford Family Fun Day – in partnership with Seaford Town Council; All Weather Pitch Project – in partnership with Lewes District Council, the Football Association, Football Foundation, and local clubs and schools.

Lewes Leisure Centre Community Initiatives

Lewes Leisure Centre co-ordinate a Joint Use Agreement with Priory School and Sussex Downs College giving pupils use of sports halls and fitness rooms during the day in term time. We also manage Lewes Athletics Track in conjunction with Lewes District Council, East Sussex County Council, Lewes Athletics Club, Sussex Downs College and Priory School. The Centre runs a GP referral scheme in conjunction with local GP surgeries.

Peacehaven Leisure Centre Community Initiatives

Peacehaven Leisure Centre is currently part of the following Community Initiatives and partnerships: Lewes & Wealden Smoking Cessation Group; Physical Activity Partnership – Walking & Swimming Sub-group; GP Referral Scheme – in partnership with South Downs & Wealden PCT and Eastbourne Downs PCT; Peacehaven & Telscombe Regeneration Group – Youth Action Team.

Seahaven Swim & Fitness Centre Community Initiatives

The centre is part of the INPACT group – Increase Newhaven’s Physical Activity Coordinating Team. We also work with various local schools providing pool space and teachers for swimming lessons.
