Free Swimming Sessions

Worth Making a Splash About

Splash out without splashing out – new ‘exclusive’ free swimming sessions within Lewes District for people 60 and over and the under 16s.

Lewes Leisure Centre and Seahaven Swim and Fitness Centre will be offering free swimming sessions from 1 July 2009 until 31 March 2010 for over 60s and during all school holiday periods for under 16s. This is being offered as a local scheme and not part of the Government’s initiative.

The Government were not able to provide the flexibility to enable the national scheme to operate within the local timetable and operational constraints without the District Council having to provide significant additional tax payer’s money to have fully implemented the scheme.

Lewes District Council, in partnership with Wave Leisure Trust, are instead delighted to be able to offer a local scheme which is both affordable and inline with the nationwide Change4Life campaign with the aim of getting local people to lead more active and healthy lives in the run up to London 2012.
