Wave Leisure have just been awarded £8,557 from the Awards for All fund to provide FREE internet access and computers for public use at its Leisure Centres in Seaford, Lewes and Peacehaven,

The scheme which has been 100% funded by the National Lottery is being implemented in stages.

Each of the centres now has free Wi-Fi access to all users of the sites. Wi-Fi enables you to either bring your own lap top or smart phone into the centres and log onto to the free network or, use one of the computers sited at the centres free of charge.

In the late summer there will be additional facilities for disabled users to utilise lap tops should they require them.

Officers from Wave Leisure have been working on a bid to the Lottery for just under a year and were delighted to learn of the success. The Lottery said that the bid matched perfectly their criteria for involving local communities and making facilities freely available to local people.

Wave Leisure Managing Director Peter Crowley said “I am absolutely delighted with the success of the bid, this will enable us as a charity to put more back into the community. Two years ago we invested in a part time post for a Funding Officer to seek out exterior funding to enhance the role that Wave Leisure plays in the community, that post alone has now been responsible for over £55,000 of additional income into the organisation which in turn has enabled us to benefit the local communities with a whole range of additional activities and services”
