Wave Leisure are delighted to be able to announce that 32 individuals, small organisations and schools across the Lewes District have benefitted from the Local Community Fund, with a total of £3000 being distributed.

An evening reception was held to present the recipients with their cheques and also gave an opportunity for the recipients of last years awards to share how they had used the grant and the impact that it had made.

Recipients of the awards were:

Telscombe Cliffs Nursery, Meridian Athletic Football Club, Mike Yard, Hoddern Junior School, Seaford Town Council Young People Awards, Seaford Lifeguards, Meridian Multi Sport Club, Seaford Downs Syndrome Support Group, Meeching Valley Primary School, The Oyster Project, FIT Club, Peacehaven Community School, Western Road Primary School, Seaford Cricket Club, Josie Calvert Briggs, Good Times Pre School, Naomi Lee, Iford and Kingston CE Primary School, Wave Leisure Gymnastics Club, Ringmer Primary School, Cycle Seahaven Club, 9th Seaford Scout Group, Seaford Striders, Lewes FC Community & Education Scheme, Newhaven Boys Club, Margaret Sheffield Memorial Fund, Seaford Netball Club, Up & Downs Trampoline Club, Newhaven Girls FC, Lewes YMCA, Rodmell C of E Primary School.

The fund is a small grant scheme that offers small clubs and organisations the opportunity to bid for up to £300 funding to assist in increasing participation in physical activity – getting more people, more active, more often.  These can be awarded to small clubs, not for profit organisations, individuals or organisations such as schools and nurseries.

Wave Leisure Managing Director Peter Crowley said “I am thrilled with the success of the Local Community Fund Grants, we have made a sum available for the community for the past few years and applications are on the rise.  It is humbling to see so many individuals offer so much additional time and resources for the benefit of others, and to be able to assist is an honour for Wave Leisure.”
