Lewes Leisure centre have just been awarded Ofsted registration for their Holiday Play Scheme for 8-11 year olds.

The centre will run its pilot scheme this summer between 26th July and 1st September in Lewes and look to extend the scheme across the district in the future.

Offering the scheme between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday children will be able to participate in a number of sporting, arts and cultural activities including swimming, climbing and creative arts sessions. In addition they will also have time to complete any homework and some quiet time to undertake more restful activities such as reading.

Officers from Wave Leisure have been working on the application for just under a year and were delighted to learn of the success.

Lewes Leisure Centre Manager Paul Douglas-Smith said: "We are thrilled to be able to offer all day care in Lewes. A lot of hard work has been put in by a number of the team and we can’t wait to get the kids onto the scheme and find out what they, and their parents, think of all the activities."

Wave Leisure Managing Director Peter Crowley said "I am absolutely delighted with the success of the registration. This will enable us as a charity to offer more robust activities for the children during school holidays, increasing the provision we already supply during term time. We are continually looking at ways to increase levels of participation and this provides an ideal avenue to get more children, more active, more often."
