Wave Launches Reusable Coffee Cups to Fight Single-Use Plastic
Did you know, Britain throws away 2.5 billion takeaway coffee cups a year? Over the last year we've made it our mission to reduce the amount of single use plastic we use at Wave. We don’t use plastic bags and have removed plastic water cups, plastic straws, stirrers and cutlery from Café Wave. We only stock compostable paper plates and napkins and we’re reducing the number of takeaway coffee cups we use. Even our milk bottle lids are collected by a Seaford lady who gives them to Eastbourne Hospital to be recycled in bulk for donations.
This Summer, we’re excited to launch our own reusable takeaway cups and, aiming high, by the end of 2018 we’d like to remove takeaway cups entirely from Café Wave. We’re partnering with Plastic Free Seaford, who are going to be completing an audit and making recommendations on what else we can do. By working with suppliers, we hope to reduce (and remove!) plastic from our vending machines, and ultimately, to remove plastic entirely from Wave sites. It’s a bold ambition but with your support, we can achieve it.
From 3rd August, you can buy a Wave reusable cup from Café Wave for £3.75. Use one or your own reusable cup and you’ll get a 30p discount off every hot drink!
