National Fitness Day 2023 will take place on Wednesday 20th September and is a chance to highlight the role physical activity plays across the UK, helping us raise awareness of its importance in assisting us to lead healthier lifestyles.
This year we want to shift the focus. While bringing people together through physical activity on National Fitness Day has a hugely positive impact, we’re encouraging you to view this day as just one step in a much bigger journey. Because after all, your health is for life.
If you are new to getting active, want to try something different or are looking to get expert advice and guidance about being active, we have opportunities across our Sport and Leisure Centre's for you to meet the team and step into something new.
Being active is not just about how much you can do, but about doing the right thing for you, feeling confident about what you are doing and enjoying what you do.
Our teams can support your journey through physical activity and improved well-being, so why not take the opportunity to come talk to us and find out more.

Benefits of Swimming with Wave Active
Swimming is not just for fun but can play a key part in your health and fitness routine.
Water is about 800 times denser than air; you can work harder, and burn more calories in a pool than out of it.
Swimming can support up to 90% of the body’s weight in the water, meaning that those with disabilities, injuries or illness such as arthritis can take part in a safe and comfortable environment.
Swimming can reduce the risk of arthritis by helping to retrain normal muscle strength and joint structure.
Different swimming strokes challenge different muscles within the body so you can chose where you tone up.

1 hour fast front crawl burns 808 calories.
