Newhaven Fort

Newhaven Fort, the iconic Palmerston Fort, heritage site and tourist attraction on the South Coast transferred into the Wave portfolio in May 2015. Its hilltop location offers panoramic views of the Channel, stretching all the way to Seaford.

Each visit to Newhaven Fort offers something new and exciting – take your picture beside the huge on-site guns, experience the air-raid recreation in the Blitz Bomb Shelter, and enjoy an afternoon tea in the 1940's themed Tea Room.

There’s an ever-changing programme of living history events and activities for children and grown ups alike. For more information visit the Newhaven Fort website for all the latest details or follow Newhaven Fort on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Most of the Fort is accessible. However, some of the tunnels and ramparts are not accessible due to the nature of the architecture and building structure. Well-behaved dogs on leads are very welcome.

Opening times:

Newhaven Fort is open daily between 10 am to 5 pm, from February until the beginning of November.

Please note, last admission is one hour before closing.
