Wave’s weekly Walking Football sessions take place at Downs Leisure Centre in Seaford. They have proved to be so popular, that another session has been added for those who are less active and are seeking an introduction – or reintroduction – to the game.
For both men and women, walking football prohibits players from sprinting, running or jogging while the ball is in play. The game is also non-contact.
Volunteer Walking Football Coach, Dick Plowman who runs the sessions said: “As a retired footballer I wanted to hold these sessions to help and encourage all over 50s to be active; and to offer a session for all frustrated footballers! It really does encapsulate fun, fitness and friendship.”
The sessions run every Wednesday.
Session One: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
This session is open to beginners and those who are looking to be more active. The hour includes drills to improve skills and fitness.
Session Two: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
After the games have finishes, the group relaxes with a cup of tea or coffee in Café Wave.
Due to popular demand, Wave's Walking Football sessions will shortly be launching at Lewes Leisure Centre.
