Help us #saveleisure

There are 2,800 public leisure facilities in the UK. Without help from the Government, up to 48% of these could be closed by the end of 2020.

Local leisure centres such as ours support the physical, mental and social wellbeing of their communities. We're supporting Community Leisure UK in their #saveleisure campaign, which aims to lobby the Government for financial support and ensure local leisure facilities can continue to operate.

We're ready to welcome you back...

We know many of you have missed being active with us, and we’re excited to welcome you back to our sites now that The Government has announced the opening date for leisure centres. Whilst in lock-down we have been busy making changes to our sites, so that when we reopen you feel safe, confident, and ready to enjoy your visit.

Take a closer look at what your visit will look like and the changes you can expect to see.

Our Phased Re-opening Plan

Over the closure period we have been working closely with trade associations including, CIMSPA, Community Leisure UK (CLUK) and UK Active and have taken on board all relevant guidance to protect our staff and customers and whilst we are keen to welcome you back, we also want to ensure your safety whilst attending an activity session.

In addition, we have been working with Lewes District Council, Eastbourne Borough Council and East Sussex County Council in determining what facilities to open and when, taking into account financial and social distancing implications. As such, we will be opening facilities and activities in three phases:

Phase Activities Location Opening Date
Phase One

Gym and Group Exercise, outdoor and some Club activities,
if social distancing can be guaranteed by Club Officials.

25th July

Phase Two

  • Shinewater Sports Centre
  • Cavendish Sport Centre

TBC

Phase Three

Swimming, Learn to Swim and other Aquatic Activities

  TBC

Gym and Group Exercise Classes

During Phase One we will be opening some sites for gym and group exercise classes, outdoor and some club activities. Find out what your Gym visit or Group Exercise Class will look like.

In order to limit numbers attending sessions and to help you feel confident about returning to activities, both gym and group exercise classes will be bookable in advance. This means that we can minimise queuing time and the associated risks. You can book sessions up to 10 minutes before they start, but you must give us 60 minutes notice if you need to cancel. If you fail to do so, it will be recorded as a no show and will mean we cannot offer the space to another member.

See our latest group exercise timetables.

Swimming

It is our intention to open swimming pools but not during the first phase. There are significant implications associated with operating swimming pools and although we know we can operate the pools safely, we want to bring swimming back when we can maximise participation levels.

We will continue to review the situation and look forward to welcoming you back at the most appropriate time.

Newhaven Fort and Skyhigh Trampoline Park

In relation to the following sites we are continuing to review the situation and will update the website when appropriate:

· Skyhigh Trampoline Park

· Newhaven Fort remains closed due to a mains water leak.
